This section lists our favorite tropical plants that work well under, and
around, bamboos in the garden. Many are aroids and most are large leafed.
Some are weird (in a good way!), most are unique, and a few are rare. In
most cases, these plants need to be grown in filtered light (as is the norm
under mature bamboo). We have many exciting options and will continue to add
to this section as the newest section of our nursery develops.

Alcocasia advincula ‘Batwing’*New
Leaves are shaped like an arrowhead (or a bat's wing!) with deep lobes and scalloped on the sides. Can grow to 3ft tall. Rare.
A new, unusual introduction from Asia. The round leaves of this Alocasia resemble the body of the stingray. The leaf comes to a point and has a tail like a stingray. Grows to 6' in height. It is best in partial sun and in a moist area.
Limited supply of 18" tall plants in 6" pots.
This is the famous Titan arum which produces the largest unbranched inflorescence (flower) in the world. The flower, which has to be seen to believe, can reach 10 feet in height. Normally found in equatorial rainforests in Sumatra, Indonesia or in botanic gardens worldwide, this rarity is now available to collectors. It can be container-grown or planted in shady/part sun conditions but it is a true tropical. Temperatures even approaching freezing will most likely be fatal. If you can provide at least a sub-tropical, humid environment with filtered sunlight, you can have success with this special plant (and have some serious bragging rights!).
Very limited quantity available. Plants are established in a 6" container (not a 1 gallon container as in the table below) and are about 18" tall. Could reach 4' to 6' tall this year.
